Frequently, dentists dealing with prosthetics are confronted with situations where the movement of posterior elements closes spaces of elements previously lost for natural reasons or for clinical needs.
The passage of years in these situations can create a twofold problem:
- extrusion of the opposing tooth;
- mesialisation of the teeth immediately distal to the one lost.
Let us look at the problem indicated in the second point which, like the first, prevents the normal prosthesis of the missing tooth.
Orthofan produces a pre-prosthetic device, called the Uprighter jet, which, as the word itself implies, offers a distal, mono- or bi-lateral thrust, capable of disto-rotating and intruding the desired element.
The mechanics of the device in question involve a system using a 240g spring that must be activated every 30 days by means of a latch. In the first month, the device is optimally stabilised in the arch, then, from the second month, it provides the movement for which it is built.
Did you expect that?
For any information on the subject, Orthofan is at your complete disposal to answer your questions and to make you curious about other pre-prosthetic orthodontic devices.
Good work and… lots of prosthetics and orthodontics for everyone!
