why clinical prescription is required
For the manufacture of any custom-made medical device, the clinician must complete and sign a comprehensive clinical prescription, as required by MDR 2017/745.
This document guarantees:
- protection of patients and professionals
- laboratory regulatory compliance
- correctness in the implementation of the requested device
- traceability of clinical and technical information
Production can only be started after receipt of the prescription, completed in full.
What Must Be Included in the Clinical Prescription
To be valid, the prescription must include:
- complete details of the clinician, including registration number in the professional register
- patient identification data
- description of the requested device or type of intervention
- materials, characteristics and additional notes, if necessary
- signature and date
Accurate compilation allows for faster processing and results that meet clinical expectations.
